Clara Chiu is a Director of Licensing Department of the Securities and Futures Commission, Hong Kong (SFC). She is also the Director in charge of Fintech matters and an ex officio member of the SFC Fintech Advisory Group. Previously, Clara also worked in the Intermediaries Supervision Department of the SFC leading teams on inspections, policy and regulatory reforms.

As a Director of Licensing Department of the SFC, Clara supervises teams in processing and approving licensing applications including applications submitted by Fintech companies. Clara also oversees the SFC Fintech Contact Point which handles initial enquiries from Fintech companies that intend to set up financial services and businesses in Hong Kong.  

Clara is a qualified solicitor in Hong Kong, and England and Wales. Prior to joining the SFC, Clara worked in international law firms and her main practice areas included commercial and regulatory litigation, and regulatory advisory work.

Clara is also a director of Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI) and sits on the Executive Committee, Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee of HKSI.
