René Plank is Deputy Head of DG Competition’s Unit responsible for antitrust enforcement in payment systems and retail banking. His previous work experience in DG Competition includes cartels, State Aid policy and antitrust enforcement in wholesale financial services. Previously he worked in a law firm on antitrust, cartel and merger issues primarily in energy and telecommunications, and in the Diplomatic Service.

He is a lawyer and holds a Master’s Degree in Law.
